Russell relishes derby duel

JOHN RUSSELL says that his St Patrick's Athletic side are up for another Dublin derby against Shelbourne at Richmond Park tonight, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.

"It's great for the players to be playing in all these big games as it's what you want as a player," says Russell, part of the Saints side which overcame local rivals Bohemians last week.

"Obviously after the mid-season break as well, it's great to have plenty of games, and with European football around the corner, it's a great time to be involved with the club. But all our focus is on tonight and Shelbourne as they're a good team and always give you a tough game.

"I think they've added to the league this year, and they've some very good players.

"We were disappointed in the previous game against Shels not to have come away with the points, especially having had an extra man for a bit of the game. But with home advantage this time, we'll be hoping to get the three points and catch up with Sligo Rovers."
