Roy's return

HE'S BACK in green - Roy Keane ended his eight-year absence from the Ireland set-up this morning as the new Ireland assistant manager and Martin O'Neill oversaw their first training session with the Republic's squad.

The Ireland players were at work on the training ground this morning with an 11.0am session in a sunny Malahide. Around half of the squad started with a light workout in the gym and the whole panel got together for their first session under O'Neill and Keane. O'Neill has 24 players to work with as Robbie Brady and Ciaran Clark withdrew from the initial squad while Anthony Pilkington has remained at Norwich City for treatment on an injury.
