Rosler praises 'fantastic' Powell after Latics' Cup win

UWE ROSLER reflected on a "fantastic" performance from Nick Powell which helped Wigan seal their spot in the FA Cup fourth-round following a 3-1 victory after extra time at MK Dons.

The 19-year-old on loan from Manchester United came off the bench in the 60th minute and scored twice after Luke Chadwick's early goal threatened a shock last night.

Marc-Antoine Fortune ensured there would be no way back for the hosts, but it was Powell who earned special praise from his manager.

"Nick is a player that excites me because he can play everywhere," said Rosler, whose side sealed a home tie against Crystal Palace in the fourth round.

Conference side Kidderminster will take on Premier League Sunderland in the FA Cup fourth round after they claimed a 3-2 win over Peterborough in their replay at London Road.

Conference outfit Macclesfield had their cup run ended as three late goals saw them beaten 4-1 at Hillsborough by Sheffield Wednesday.

A Joe Garner hat-trick handed Preston a shock 3-2 win over Championship side Ipswich at Deepdale.

Franck Nouble put Ipswich into the lead after 58 minutes but two goals in as many minutes from Garner put Preston in control before substitute David McGoldrick grabbed an equaliser.

Garner then completed his hat-trick with two minutes remaining and Preston will now go on to face Nottingham Forest.

Watford had no such problems overcoming Bristol City as goals from Marco Davide Faraoni and Lewis McGugan gave them a 2-0 win.

Port Vale will face Brighton in round four after they claimed a dramatic 3-2 win over Plymouth.

Championship teams Birmingham and Bournemouth both made serene progress into round four with comfortable wins.

Charlton and Oxford will have to play again after their re-arranged third-round tie ended 2-2.
