ASTON Villa boss Ciarán Clark could be pressed into service as an emergency central midfielder for Saturday's Premier League clash with Manchester United.

Tom Cleverley, Kieran Richardson and Ashley Westwood are all unavilable but Lambert reckons Clark could do a job for him if required. "I know Ciaran has done it in the past," he said. "It's not something I would disregard because I know he can do it. "And if I asked Ciaran I'm sure he would step up to the plate and do it. But hopefully it's not something I have to visit.  He's a strong lad but he's playing really well at centre half. Jores and him seem to compliment each other. Ciaran is a British-style centre-back and strong but he's comfortable on the ball too." West Bromwich Albion earned only their second win in their last 10 games when they beat 10-man Aston Villa 1-0 in the Premier League last  Saturday.
