Aidan Fitzmaurice KEVIN Doyle is closer to a move to the MLS after he held talks with Colorado Rapids. Unwanted at Wolves where he is under contract until the end of the season, the 31-year-old has been offered a route back to first-team football by MLS side Rapids, who previously had ex-Ireland striker Caleb Folan on the books. Wolves boss Kenny Jackett confirmed earlier this week that Doyle had been given permission to speak to the Colorado side, and it's thought that Doyle travelled to the US to meet with club officials but is now back in England. Doyle has been on the fringes at Wolves since their demotion to League One and has spent time on loan, to QPR and Crystal Palace, in the last two seasons. The former Reading man ( Agreeing on a move to the US would also have implications for Doyle's international career. Darren O'Dea and Robbie Keane were both capped while at MLS clubs but while first-team football in the US would at least benefit Doyle, his chances with Ireland would potentially be harmed by the lack of exposure in the MLS. Frozen out by Giovanni Trapattoni, Doyle had recently come into favour and scored twice in four games in 2014 for Ireland.
