Quinn in for Hull win

STEVE BRUCE is delighted to see Ireland international Stephen Quinn back in action for Hull City as the Tigers brushed past Middlesbrough and into the next round of the FA Cup.

Former St Patrick's Athletic man Quinn played his first game in two months, helping Hull to a 2-0 win over a Boro side without on-loan keeper Shay Given (to make sure the Aston Villa player was not cup-tied, though that's now a moot point as Villa were also knocked out at the third-round stage).

"The lads are itching to play. They've come here on a difficult afternoon and put in a really good performance," said Bruce after his fringe players, including Quinn, impressed.

"Abdoulaye Faye keeps rolling back the years, Paul McShane was terrific at the back. Stephen Quinn played his first game in months. It was nice to see him remind us what a good player he is."
