Pulis: Don't leave Glenn

STOKE City boss Tony Pulis has told Ireland midfielder Glenn Whelan he won't be leaving the club.

Whelan is out of favour at Stoke this season and has not started in the last seven league games for the side.

That put a question mark over Whelan's future at the club and at least three clubs -- Bolton, Wolves and Celtic -- sent scouts to the Ireland-Norway game on Wednesday to check on Whelan's form with a view to a move in January, but Pulis says that Whelan will have to accept his current situation.

"Players want to play games and you have to understand and recognise that. It is very difficult for players to be sat on the sidelines week in, week out," Pulis said.

"Glenn has played a great part at this football club and we don't want him to go. I understand the situation he is in and the way he is feeling -- that is really the right way to be."
