Finland star Teemu Pukki says he is over the disappointment of relegation from the Premier League with Norwich City - and his own goal famine - and is focused on delivering for the national team this week.

The Finns, who qualified automatically for Euro 2020, play their first game of the calendar year tonight when they host Wales in Helsinki, before a trip to Dublin to face Ireland on Sunday.

Pukki scored six goals in the first five Premier League games of last season but then went 15 games without a single goal in the second half of the campaign as City slid into the Championship.

He's shown good form in pre-season with the Canaries and is eager to repeat that this week.

"The goals have boosted self-confidence, even though the games were just training matches. They will definitely help my sharpness in these matches for the national team," he said.

"The break was good, even if it was short, I was able to think about things other that football. Now I'm confident in my own situation," he added.

He admits he struggled last season during his goal drought. "It was a question of self-confidence. For myself and the whole team, the games didn't go our way." he says.

"That's why we dropped out of the Premier League. When you don't score, it's not an easy time for the striker."
