PSG to bid £40m for Man United star Angel Di Maria but won't swap Edinson Cavani

Paris Saint-Germain are convinced Angel Di Maria wants to join them – but they have let it be known that they will not sell Edinson Cavani to Manchester United as part of any deal.
A bid for Di Maria is now expected by the end of this month which may be made easier by the fact that both clubs are due to meet on their tours of the United States.
Di Maria is scheduled to meet up with United five days before PSG play them in Chicago on July 30.
However, although PSG want to sign Di Maria they are unlikely to bid close to the £59.7 million United paid for the Argentinian international when he was acquired from Real Madrid last summer.

Senior sources at PSG today insisted they will “walk away” should United’s price for Di Maria be too high. They nevertheless confirmed that the club is interested in signing Di Maria, who is also very good friends with one of their Argentinean players, Javier Pastore.
The indications from those close to Di Maria is that he would welcome a move to PSG and although no bid has formally been submitted, as yet, one – for probably around £40million – is expected.
PSG's bidding power has been strengthened by the easing of the FInancial Fair Play rules allowing them to increase their transfer budget for this summer. But they are changing their approach, also, with an emphasis on younger, more value-for-money players.
Publicly, United – and their manager Louis Van Gaal – claim that they expect Di Maria to stay, but it is understood that if a bid close to their valuation is made then it will be accepted.
It certainly does not appear that the player is an important part of Van Gaal’s plans as he overhauls his team.
Di Maria has struggled to adapt to life in Manchester since his move and it is believed the 27-year-old has found it difficult to work under Van Gaal also.
