'Pool legend Evans to give Anfield insight at CityWest

AN INSIGHT into the workings of the legendary Anfield bootroom will be one of the big attractions at a special sports conference taking place at the CityWest Hotel on Saturday, February 20.

Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans (pictured) is the latest high-profile name added to an impressive array of guest speakers at the 'Sports Team Management and Administration Conference', which is being hosted by Sporttracker and Setanta College.

Having worked with Liverpool legends such as Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley and Kenny Dalglish, Evans was the main man at Anfield from 1994 to '98. "I know there is a great interest in the whole area of coaching in Ireland and if I can pass on even a fraction of the things I picked up from the likes of Bill Shankly, then people will definitely benefit," he said. The conference is designed to give managers and club administration officers at all levels the opportunity to learn from the top names in coaching.

Evans will be joined by fellow speakers Steve Aboud (IRFU technical development manager), Mayo football manager John O'Mahony, Prof Aidan Moran (former official psychologist to the Irish Olympic squad), Dr Liam Hennessy (IRFU director of fitness), Gerry Fitzpatrick (former Irish international basketball coach), John Deehan (former Aston Villa, Norwich and Wigan player) and Gary Keegan (high performance manager of IIS and former high performance manager in boxing). GAA coaching luminaries such as Brian Cody, Pete McGrath, Jack O'Connor and Peter Quinn will also be speaking at the conference. Tickets, priced at €75, are available on www.sporttracker.ie or by contacting Sporttracker on 042 9324504.
