Pat's go joint top with easy victory over Shels

St Patrick's Athletic have joined Sligo at the top of the Premier Division after a facile 3-0 win over Shelbourne at Tolka Park.

Scoreless at the break, Pat's found new gears in the second half and a double from Christy Fagan and a goal from the superb Chris Forrester sealed the points for the Saints.

Shels were reduced to 10 men with 10 minutes to go as Jack Memery was sent-off for a high challenge.

Bray Wanderers sealed a rare victory at Turner's Cross as Kieran Marty Waters' second-half brace helped them to all three points at Cork City.

Bray took the lead after three minutes through John Mulroy.

Gearoid Morrisey equalised for Cork two minutes after the restart but midway through the second half Waters put Bray back in front. He then added his second in injury-time to seal a great win.

UCD battled from behind to earn a point at home to Limerick at Belfield.

Limerick got off to the perfect start after four minutes as Shane Tracey netted. Just before the hour, parity was restored thanks to Robbie Benson's strike for the Students and that's how it stayed.

An 86th-minute Rory Patterson goal helped Derry City close to within a point of the leaders they beat Drogheda United 3-2 at Hunky Dorys Park.

It had looked like something special or bizarre would be needed to separate the teams and it was the latter on 39 minutes as Barry McNamee's corner evaded everyone and crept in.

Rory Patterson doubled Derry's advantage before a stunning brace from Declan 'Fabio' O'Brien levelled matters. But with timing running out Patterson popped up with the winner.
