Papac eager to add to Gers goal tally with repeat of Saints winner

Sasa Papac has fond memories of Rangers' last trip to McDiarmid Park but he admits fellow full-back Steven Whittaker has since put his goalscoring exploits into the shade.

Papac grabbed the final goal in October's 2-1 Scottish Premier League victory over St Johnstone, who host Rangers on Saturday. The strike was the Bosnian's only goal this season and his third since signing for Rangers in 2006.

Papac said: "I remember playing St Johnstone earlier in the season as it is not often that I score the winning goal.

"It's usually Boydy (Kris Boyd) or Kenny (Miller) or Nacho (Novo) but this time it was me and it was a great feeling.

"I just remember getting the ball and my first thought was to shoot. Fortunately it went in, which was lucky because we didn't play well that day."

Whittaker took his tally for the season into double figures on Sunday when Rangers extended their lead at the top of the SPL to 10 points with a 3-0 victory over Hibernian.

"It would be nice if I could get another goal soon," Papac said.

"I see Steven Whittaker scoring 10 goals now and this makes me think that perhaps I have to do a bit better!"

Rangers can extend the gap on Celtic to 13 points with victory in the lunchtime kick-off, with Dundee United visiting Parkhead later in the day.
