Palace loan on cards for out of favour Best

FORMER Ireland striker Leon Best could be on his way to Crystal Palace, if the player can secure his exit from Blackburn Rovers.

Best, 27, has had a disastrous time at Blackburn since his £3million move from Newcastle United in 2012 and Rovers are eager to get him off the wage bill as he is not in the plans of manager Gary Bowyer and has not featured for the side since October.

Best's wage packet of £30,000 a week is a massive drain on resources at Ewood Park and Blackburn are eager to cut a deal that would see Best move on. Palace have made an inquiry about taking Best, initially on loan.

Best, last capped against Brazil in 2010, has started just nine games for Blackburn in 18 months and scored only two league goals.

DEFENDER Derek Foran has joined the exodus from Tallaght to Inchicore by linking up with St Patrick's Athletic again.

Foran has become the fifth player to leave Shamrock Rovers and move to St Pats since the end of last season, following the earlier arrivals of Ken Oman, Conor McCormack, James Chambers and Mark Quigley, at Richmond Park.

Foran made 26 league appearances for the Hoops last year.

NEW BRAY Wanderers boss Alan Mathews has made his first major signing by bringing forward Jake Kelly back to the club.

Kelly made his debut with Bray back in 2008 and made 104 appearances for the Seagulls before moving to St Patrick's Athletic, picking up a league winner's medal with the Saints last season.

"I have admired Jake since I first saw him and I am delighted to have him in our squad for the coming season," says Mathews.
