JOHN O'Shea says he would give up a trophy cabinet full of medals just to play in the Euro 2012 finals, writes Paul Hyland.
The Sunderland defender (below) missed out on World Cup 2002 and is desperate to play in a big tournament finals.
"It is a huge gap on my CV and I would have given back a lot of medals to go to a major tournament with Ireland," he said with the type of commitment Giovanni Trapattoni demands.
"We can look forward to the summer. For once we won't be watching it on the telly and we want to make an impact.
"Fingers crossed we can do that again with the manager's guile.
"He has brought a new level of detail and approach to how he wants the team to play.
"Sometimes it might not be so pleasing on the eye but it has brought us positive results."
