Ole has a Canary in Anthony

IRELAND winger Anthony Pilkington hopes that a £1million move to Cardiff City from Championship rivals Norwich City can help get his season into gear.

Even though he had a year left on his contract with the Canaries they decided to allow Pilkington, a £2million purchase from Huddersfield, move on to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Cardiff even though they made a loss on the deal.

The 26-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with the Welsh side. "SO happy to have signed for Cardiff, can't wait to get going now," he said. "I met some great people at Norwich and I wish them and all the boys that I played with all the best."

Pilkington played a role in the Canaries' success in winning promotion to the Premier League but last season he was cursed with injury trouble and appeared to fall out of favour under boss Neil Adams in pre-season.

Meanwhile, former Ireland youth cap Mark O'Brien is also on the move, joining SPL side Motherwell on a three-month loan deal from Derby County.
