New signings Gary Shaw and Mikey Drennan are already bedding in at St Patrick's Athletic as they found the net in a pre-season friendly win.

The Saints kicked off their preparations for the 2019 season with a friendly against Wexford, boss Harry Kenny enjoying a 3-0 win over the Division One side in Carlow.

New boys Shaw, Drennan and an unnamed trialist on target while Dave Webster, Brandon Miele and Cian Coleman also made their first appearance in a Saints shirt.

Shamrock Rovers were also in pre-season action, earning a 5-0 win over Lucan United, goals from Dylan Watts (3) and Aaron Greene (2) while new signings Jack Byrne and Aaron McEneff made their Hoops debuts.

Meanwhile, Shelbourne plan to boost the size of their squad with the signing of defender Luke Byrne and midfielder Dan McKenna.

Byrne (25) was released by Shamrock Rovers last season after a five-year spell with the Hoops, the left back battling his way back from a long-term injury. McKenna (19) spent part of last season on loan from Wolves to Bray Wanderers, he has been at Molineux since his loan ended and Shels are keen to give him another run out here.
