More stars walk away from Ibrox

STEVEN Davis, the man who captained Rangers through four months of administration, and long-serving goalkeeper Allan McGregor are among the players looking for a new club today after the ranks of the Ibrox exodus swelled to eight.

Davis, McGregor, Kyle Lafferty and Jamie Ness last night joined Rhys McCabe, Sone Aluko, Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker in declining the opportunity to switch their contracts over to Charles Green's newco club.

Green had initially threatened players with legal action for breach of contract if they left Ibrox but PFA Scotland's lawyers have expressed belief the football authorities would back their stance that they are all free agents.

The players are entitled to object to the transfer of contracts under TUPE employment law.
