FORMER Ireland man Keith Andrews is still in limbo as his hoped-for move back to MK Dons has been blocked.

Under contract with Bolton Wanderers until the end of the season, Andrews is unwanted by the club and was loaned out to their Championship rivals Watford.

But Hornets manager Slavisa Jokanovic fell out with the Dubliner in November and Andrews has been frozen out by Watford, unable to even train with the club.

He has hoped to return to MK Dons, a club where Andrews enjoyed success and from where he eared his move to the Premier League, even assisting manager Karl Robinson in an unofficial capacity, but so far the League One outfit have been unable to complete a deal to sign Andrews.

"There have been five Championship teams requiring his services, two from abroad, and he has said no to them all because he wants to hold out and come here," says Dons manager Robinson, adding that Andrews may even come into the club in a non-playing role until his contract wrangle can be sorted.

"There's always that possibility and I think he's willing to do that and still come in and help.

"We've been very open and candid about it. He wants to be here, I want him here, the staff want him here," said Robinson, who has backed the 34-year-old to go on and manage the club.

"Just to have him back in this building is a tremendous step forward for us and we all know that one day this could be the club that he goes on to manage," said Robinson.

"I think he is 100 per cent a manager in the making. His work ethic's phenomenal, his game understanding is great," added Robinson.

Meanwhile, Irish youngster Anthony O'Donnell is hoping to impress on trial at Huddersfield Town.

The defender lined out for Cobh Ramblers last season but he has sparked cross-channel interest and Championship side Huddersfield invited the 20-year-old over for a trial.

Huddersfield declared an interest in the Airtricity League when they signed up Jake Carroll from St Patrick's Athletic. Carroll is currently recovering from an injury he picked up while on loan to SPL side Partick Thistle. Derry City are awaiting bids from Brentford for Michael Duffy and Patrick McEleney.
