A last-gasp winner from Darren Meenan gave league leaders Dundalk the bragging rights following their Louth derby clash with Drogheda United last night at United Park.
Mountney's free-kick was directed to the net by Meenan and was enough to give the visitors a 2-1 win in an entertaining local clash in front of a packed house.
Michael Schlingermann was in inspired form in the opening half but was beaten when Dane Massey's free-kick came off the wall, only to see the ball hit the post and go out to safety.
Dundalk hit the front on 54 minutes when Seán Gannon threaded the ball through to Darren Meenan, who turned sweetly, before dispatching the ball in the bottom corner.
Their lead was short-lived, Ronan Finn gave away the ball cheaply which allowed Seán Brennan to play in Lee Duffy who rounded Gary Rogers before sending the home crowd into raptures.
Dundalk dominated the game from there on in but Schlingermann kept getting in the way until John Mountney's free-kick was deflected to the net by Meenan in the final minute of normal time as Stephen Kenny's men left with all three points.
