Meath AGM

A well attended Meath AGM, in which 59 of the 63 clubs were represented, along with one new prospective applicant, a returning team from Drogheda, Grove Rangers.

The merging of Drogheda Crescent and Marsh Celtic to become Drogheda-Marsh Crescent accounted for one of the absentees, the other three clubs being Boyne Athletic, Clones Town, and Glaslough Villa.

The outgoing Chairman, David Tull,y welcomed everyone and urged each one to play their part in what he hoped would be a constructive meeting.

A brief presentation took place by representatives of O'Driscoll/ O'Neill Insurers, in which all clubs were reminded about the FAI rule concerning the compulsive nature of PL Insurance and the importance of having adequate cover for participants on the field of play.

The adoption of a number of featured motions was a fairly straightforward matter, as it was merely a tidying up of present rules to eliminate any conflict that may have existed with present FAI rules.

Laurence's FC put forward a motion stating: "If two teams finish level on points, final placings to be decided by head to head record (i.e. aggregate score over two games), rather than a playoff. If head to head record is level, then a play-off should decide the final placings." The motion was narrowly defeated.

Angie Melia stepped down from the Committee after three seasons and her position was taken up by Drogheda Summer League Chairman, and Drogheda-Marsh Crescent Secretary Keith Wallace.

saturday matches

Following inquires from a number of clubs regarding the possibility of playing their matches on Saturdays rather than Sundays, the MDL decided to offer the possibility of formulating a Saturday division for next season, once the declaration of intent reaches a minimum of 10 teams.

The Annual Presentation of Awards takes place on Friday 22 June in the Ardboyne Hotel Navan.

The closing date for application for the 2012/2013 Season is 30 June, with the formation taking place immediately after the deadline.
