McPhail eyes Cardiff deal

FORMER Ireland man Stephen McPhail is keen to win a new contract with Cardiff City and win promotion to the Premier League for the Welsh club.

The 32-year-old has managed just one appearance for The Bluebirds this season due to injury and, as he's out of contract at the end of the season, there was concern over his future. But McPhail did play in a midweek reserve game and hopes to win back his place in the side and earn a new deal. "I truly believe I can be back in the first team pretty soon and then it's down to me," he said.

"I have eight months left on my contract and I want to stay at this club much longer.

"To do that I have to be playing at my best and that's something I believe I will be working towards over the next month or so.

"This squad is capable of winning promotion to the Premier League and I want to play a part in that."
