Manchester United could let Ashley Young leave this summer if they receive a suitable offer.

Tottenham and Aston Villa have expressed an interest in Young, who is entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old played a key role in United's qualification for the Champions League last season in Louis van Gaal's first year in charge.

And he ended the season on the verge of a recall to Roy Hodgson's England squad after a string of impressive performances.

Young has started all three of United's games on their pre-season tour of the United States.

But it's understood a new contract between Young and United are not yet at an advanced stage.

Van Gaal has plenty of cover on the left with Andreas Pereira, Adnan Januzaj and Memphis Depay.

And there remains the possibility Young will be allowed to leave if the right offer comes along.

Young said last week: "I'm at one of the biggest clubs in the world so I want to stay here as long as possible.

"That's exactly what I want to do. It's in the club's hands now so I will have to see how it goes."

"I want to go out and play and at the moment I am on tour so I am trying to enjoy myself.

"I hope we can sort things out. There have been preliminary talks so I am just looking to go out on the pitch and leave my agent to take care of that."
