Louis van Gaal is refusing to talk about a possible bid for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.

Reports in Spain have linked Manchester United with a stunning £120million move for the Welshman, but the Dutch coach refused to be drawn on whether the speculation had any substance.

"I cannot discuss that with you," Van Gaal said when asked about Bale, who scored in the Club World Cup final earlier this week.

"I discuss that with my CEO and not with anyone of the media."

Bale has been in Spain for just over a year and despite winning the Champions League, Copa Del Rey and Club World Cup - scoring in all three finals - reports in Spain say he is unhappy at the club.

Certain sections of the Santiago Bernabeu have resorted to booing Bale if he is not at his best due to their love of Spanish midfielder Isco, and has reportedly led United to believe they can lure Bale back to the Premier League.

Spanish newspaper AS claims that the Wales international is growing increasingly unhappy with life in Spain, and that the move is being pushed forward by van Gaal.
