Mac makes £3m move for Hunt

MICK McCarthy has embarked on a 'Buy Irish' campaign in a bid to bolster Wolves' chances of surviving in the Premier League for longer than a season by raiding Hull City for Stephen Hunt and Kevin Kilbane.

With Hull desperate to find cash, Brown has been told to listen to offers for anyone in his squad and the first to leave is likely to be Caleb Folan, now almost certain to sign for QPR.

"There is interest for Daniel Cousin and Caleb Folan," said Brown. "Daniel Cousin is on African Nations duty and it is very difficult for him to come back and sign papers."

"Until that happens then there won't be a deal on the table, regardless of what anyone else says.

"Caleb has expressed a desire to leave the football club and we have agreed to it," he added.

McCarthy has been handed a fighting fund to strengthen his squad and has made a tentative offer for Hunt, thought to be around £3m.

Speculation suggests that Kilbane will grab the chance of a move away from Hull in the window and is actively looking at options including Wolves.

Meanwhile, Alex McLeish has confirmed an offer for Aiden McGeady was rebuffed by Celtic.

"We made an inquiry but we were told he is not for sale," said McLeish. "The situation won't change until someone says he is up for sale."
