Longford rue James' ban

LONGFORD TOWN have expressed their "disappointment" after one of their players, Colm James, was handed down an 18-month ban from the game for breaching FAI rules on gambling.

Defender James was banned from all football activity for 18 months following an FAI investigation initiated in April.

"Longford Town FC have been advised by the FAI that a player registered with the club has been banned for 18 months after he was found guilty on six counts of breaching FAI rules associated with match integrity," Longford said today.

"Longford Town FC wish to express their disappointment at the fact that a player associated with the club has had these allegations made against him. The club will at no time condone any such breach of FAI rules.

"The club have fully co-operated with the investigation and the club are not implicated in this breach of rules."
