League of Ireland previews

TONIGHT's Airtricity Premier Division ties

SLIGO RVS v ST PATRICK'S ATHLETIC (Showgrounds, 7.05)

TEAM NEWS: Alan Keane is the only doubt for Sligo, with Jason McGuinness back in the fold. Pats have a clean bill of health bar Stephen O'Flynn.

MATCH POINT: Sligo are getting steadily more impressive, with last week's win away to Cork securing a very important three points. Pats did well against Sligo last season, and Saints men Brendan Clarke and John Russell know the Showgrounds inside out, but Sligo should nick a narrow win.

BETTING: Sligo 1/1, Pats 5/2, draw 23/10

FORECAST: Sligo win

Dundalk v Bohemians (Oriel Park, 7.45)

TEAM NEWS: Worries in defence for Dundlak as Chris Shields is suspended while Liam Burns and Derek Foran are out. Derek Pender is the only doubt for Bohs, who have Ryan McAvoy pushing for only his second start of the league season after his stunning strike against Monaghan last week.

MATCH POINT: Last week's win in Derry was a big boost to Dundalk morale but financial problems, forcing cuts to the coaching staff, have not helped. A draw is on the cards.

BETTING: Dundalk 7/4, Bohs 6/4, draw 21/10

FORECAST: Draw

UCD v Drogheda United (UCD Bowl, 7.45)

TEAM NEWS: Ger Barron, Chris Mulhall and Tomas Boyleare concerns for UCD but they were boosted by Samir Belhout's return last week. Full squad for Drogheda bar Paul Crowley

MATCH POINT: One point from three games makes grim reading for UCD, while Drogheda rack up the wins. Away victory here.

BETTING: UCD 21/10, Drogheda 5/4, draw 11/5

FORECAST: Drogheda win

Monaghan United v Bray Wands (Gortakeegan, 8.0)

TEAM NEWS: A first Premier Division start for keeper Michael Schlingermann here as Monaghan's Chris Bennion is suspended while Alan Byrne, John Reilly, and Gareth O' Connor are all carrying injuries. Bray just missing long-term injury victims Shane O'Connor and Stephen Brennan.

MATCH POINT: Very spirited stuff from Bray against the champions last week, and if they could only keep a clean sheet, Pat Devlin's side would be much higher in the table.

BETTING: Monaghan 6/4, Bray 17/10, draw 11/5

FORECAST: Draw

Shamrock Rvs v Derry City (Tallaght Stadium, 8.00)

TEAM NEWS: Same panel for Rovers, who are missing Ciaran Kilduff and Stephen O'Donnell. Derry are without Stewart Greacen and Rory Patterson.

MATCH POINT: Third meeting in 12 days for these clubs, Rovers' pride is still bruised by that 3-0 defeat here in the Setanta Cup and Derry will have to work hard to dig out a result.

BETTING: Rovers 8/13, Derry 9/2, draw 5/2

FORECAST: Draw

Shelbourne v Cork City (Tolka Park, 8.00)

TEAM NEWS: Stephen Paisley (suspension) joins Stephen Hurley and Lorcan Fitzgerald in the stands. Worries for City as John Dunleavy joins Stephen Mulcahy, Kevin Murray and Neal Horgan on the injured list.

MATCH POINT: With one win in eight, Cork need to start picking up points and should be able to get a draw here, unless Shels can vastly improve on last week's weak display away to Drogheda United.

BETTING: Shels 6/5, Cork 11/5, draw 11/5

FORECAST: Draw

ATHLONE TOWN v LONGFORD TOWN (Athlone Town Stadium, 7.45)

BETTING: Athlone 5/2, Longford 1/1, draw 9/4

FORECAST: Longford win

Limerick v Waterford United (Jackman Park, 7.45)

BETTING: Limerick 4/7, Waterford 9/2, draw 13/5

FORECAST: Draw

Mervue United v Finn Harps (Fahy's Field, 7.45)

BETTING: Mervue 2/1, Harps 5/4, draw 11/5

FORECAST: Harps win

Wexford Youths v SD Galway (Ferrycarrig Park, 8.00)

BETTING: Wexford 4/6, Galway 4/1, draw 12/5

FORECAST: Wexford win
