Lawrence planning swift return to action

LIAM LAWRENCE hopes to be back in action with Portsmouth within a fortnight, if he can overcome the injury which has disrupted his season with club and country.

"I got injured against Palace at the start of this month, and I haven't done much for three weeks now, I am just waiting for the ankle to sort itself out," said the winger.

"It's a time thing, now. Hopefully in the next week or two I will be back training and playing but it will take me another few weeks after that to get my form back.

"I've missed a lot of games with Ireland, now. I came over on the first day we met up before Estonia, on the Sunday, but my ankle was a mess, it was swollen and I was in no position to play, so they just sent me home to get it treated. I was on the first plane back to England on the Monday morning.

"I missed all the celebrations and partying in Dublin -- I believe the lads had a good night.

"I wanted to go over to see the game and just to be there but it wasn't possible, we'd just had a baby boy who was eight weeks premature, so I wasn't able to get over as he needs a lot of looking after. I couldn't leave my missus on her own as we have another boy.

"Hopefully we'll have more celebrations in the summer."
