LAST year's FAI Schools Leinster Senior B Cup runners-up St Kilian's DSD look to be gathering momentum in their bid to go one better this time around.
The southside-based German school were seen off comprehensively in last year's showpiece by St Kevin's Community College -- who ironically suffered final heartbreak themselves 12 months earlier.
However, Al Sugg's side have wasted not time in signalling their intent by marching into the quarter-finals in style.
First up, 2011 winners Greenhills College were put to the sword in round one, with Jessie Camm grabbing a hat-trick in the 5-1 victory.
Because the Senior B Cup is for smaller schools, only 32 teams are entered each year so last week's second round success over St Tiernan's Community School, Balally was, in fact, a last-16 decider.
This time Niko Arevadze (two), Brian McCann and Christian Leonard were on target as a hard-fought 4-3 win proved enough to see Kilian's through.
If Kilian's are to succeed this season they most likely will have to go through one of second-round opponents Kevin's and Coláiste de híde.
The holders are due to face the 2010 winners next week once the mid-term break is over, after their clash was delayed before the Halloween holidays.
The Tallaght school received a bye into the second round, while Clondalkin outfit Kevin's had to come through Rockbrook Park School, Rathfarnham to reach this point. Once the third-round games are completed a draw will be made to determine the quarter-final line-ups.
