New Ireland recruit Kevin Long says he's happy to miss out on a family wedding so he can try to make his international debut.

The former Cork City man, who has broken into the Burnley side at the end of the Premier League season, was a surprise call-up to the senior squad for the three-game series of matches next month.

It's a reward for Long (26) who has battled back from two serious injuries but he will have to skip his bother's wedding. "He won't be too happy, but if I play a game he'll be all right," says Long.

"It's been a tough year but it's been a nice reward, getting a few games in towards the end of the season and I've really been enjoying it."

Meanwhile, Irish midfielder Stephen Dawson (31) has joined Bury from League One rivals Scunthorpe United. "Stephen is a winner, I've quickly realised that since meeting him," says manager Lee Clark.
