Kenny closes in on Doyle

KENNY Dalglish is closing in on Kevin Doyle and is poised to make a £10m bid to prise him loose from Wolves.

The Anfield supremo needs another striker to mix it with Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll and has been monitoring Doyle since last season.

Fears that Doyle would not be fit to play for Giovanni Trapattoni in the crunch Euro 2012 double-header against Slovakia and Russia in ten days time were put to one side after a scoring and match-winning performance for Wolves against Fulham.

Dalglish sent a scout to take another close look at Doyle, who has also attracted Arsene Wenger's attention and could yet feature as one of the big moves in the final week of the transfer deadline.

Anfield football director Damien Comolli made several attempts to bring Doyle to Liverpool and believes that the Wexford man could be a relative bargain in an over-inflated market.

Meanwhile, Ireland's other big Premier League mover and shaker Shane Long will soon be on the 'Most Wanted' list for top clubs according to West Brom boss Roy Hodgson.
