FORMER Ireland international Paddy Kenny is in line for a sensational return to action next month when he completes his drugs ban, writes AIDAN FITZMAURICE.
The 31-year-old was handed a nine-month ban from the game by the English FA last year after being found guilty of taking a banned substance. Kenny was given permission to return to training with the Blades yesterday and his ban formally ends on April 22 - so he could come back into the United side to play promotion rivals Swansea City two days later.
"He will be in the frame to play against Swansea even though he obviously won't be match fit," said United boss Kevin Blackwell. "We have Steve Simonsen on loan from Stoke at the moment but he will be back at Stoke by the Swansea game and it is feasible we shall have to gamble on Paddy."
Kenny was capped seven times by Ireland, but he has not been involved since the 5-2 defeat to Cyprus.
