The weekend marked a welcome return to action for the majority of MDL teams after an enforced lay off that stretched as much as seven weeks for some teams.

Current League champions and present table toppers Rock Celtic were in Leinster Junior Cup action where they faced Dublin opposition Knocklyon United.

The match was originally scheduled as a home tie for the Dublin team, but their pitch had not recovered sufficiently, and Rock were only too grateful to oblige at their splendid Sandy Lane pitch.

The home side eventually went through by 2-0 with goals from David Ward and Derek Delaney after the sides were deadlocked for seventy minutes.
