Liffey Celtic first past the post in Senior Division

Congratulations to Liffey Celtic who clinched the CR Wynne Feeds Senior Division title at Mullarney Park by defeating home side Castle Villa 4-1.

Celtic needed challengers Ballycane Celtic and Monasterevin AFC to lose to struggling Kilcullen and Kildare Town respectively and the underdogs obliged in both cases to leave the Newhall based side home and dry with three games still remaining in the senior programme.

Elsewhere, Naas United, as expected, clinched the premier title and earned promotion to the Senior Division after just two seasons in junior football with a 2-0 away win at Clonmullion. Congratulations to all.

Workshop a great success

The League in conjunction with FAI development officers, Pat Behan and Laura Cusack, conducted a very successful coaching workshop at Clongorey Football Club last week. Player and former players from many teams in the league were there to get their first taste of coaching through the introductory workshop.

We would like to thank those who attended and hope that they will progress to take the Senior Introductory Course, which is being arranged for later in the season. We would like to thank Pat and Laura for delivering the workshop. Our thanks also to Clongorey Football Club for hosting the workshop and for their excellent hospitality on the night.

Referee notices

Popular Kildare league referee Martin Moloney has been appointed as an assistant referee for the upcoming friendly game at Aviva Stadium between Manchester United and the Airtricity League. This will be the first game at the fabulous new home of Irish football and the honour is a well deserved one for Martin. Congratulations from all in the league.

A meeting of the Kildare / Laois branch of the ISRS will take place in the Hazel Hotel on Monday 26th. July commencing at 8pm. Full attendance is essential.

John McLoughlin Memorial Tournament

The fourth Annual John McLoughlin Memorial 5-a-side tournament will take place in Prendergast Park Coill Dubh on Saturday 7th August. Automatic one-match suspension

All clubs are reminded that players who are sent off must serve an automatic one game ban in their next competitive game. In an effort to ensure that this rule is adhered to we intend to circulate the results of the league's weekly disciplinary hearing to each club secretary by email every Friday. The league is also carrying out spot-checks on match cards each week to ensure that the players listed are properly registered. We would request the cooperation of all clubs in respect of these matters.

Player registrations / signature check

Spot checks will be carried out each week on match cards against filed registration forms. As in previous seasons, players may be required to sign a signature check list prior to kick-off at selected games. It is mandatory that all players on your squad sign this form when requested to do so by a match official

All players must be registered no later than Friday in order to be eligible to play on Sunday. Registrations, accompanied by the relevant fee, should be sent to Mr Tom Stanley, Honorary Registrar KDFL, Apt 2 Willow Square, Primrose Gate, Hazelhatch Rd. Celbridge, Co Kildare. Clubs who do not register their players in accordance with rule and submit proof that they hold a valid public liability policy will forfeit their fixtures.

Free weekends

Free weekends will be granted only in exceptional circumstances and must be applied for 10 days in advance. The application may be by email or in writing (not by text).
