arklow's premier title

The League titles continued to fall in the Heatons/Sportsworld WDSL as four more teams lifted the silverware in the past week.

Arklow Town A took the Under 9 Premier Division silverware after 2-0 play-off win over Wicklow Rovers A.

Both teams have finished level on 21 points from their ten scheduled fixtures. But goals by Conor Breslin and Matthew Dempsey gave the 'Town the

crown at the Woodlands in Greystones on Saturday May 15th last.

But there was better news for the Whitegates based club as they claimed two 11-a-side trophies.

Just a week after their Under 12 B team won the Division 1 section, Rovers' Under 13 A side secured the Premier Division honours.

That was after receiving a walk-over from Wolfe Tone Youth Club A.

It means that Wicklow - who have eight representatives on the WDSL Kennedy Cup squad -- are unbeaten with a record of played 11 (with a home game against Greystones United A outstanding); ten wins (including three walk-over's) and a draw.

In total, they scored 24 goals, conceded just three and kept five clean sheets. Meanwhile, Roundwood AFC captured the U14 Division 1 trophy by beating St. Anthony's 5-1 at the Vartry Grounds yesterday (Sunday May 23).

James Manley, Cian Gallagher, Daniel Phelan, Aidan Carthy and Evan

Hawkins all bagged singles in the victory.

It means their record with an away match against St. Anthony's away in Kilcoole is played nine; won eight and lost once (a walk-over).

In total, they scored 49 goals, conceded ten and kept two clean sheets.

Last week, Roundwood won the Under 14 Division 1 Shield by defeating Greystones United 6-0 at Shamrock Park in Rathnew thanks to goals from

Kai Jameson, John Cauley, Keith McCormack, James Manley and AidanCarthy (2).
