Joseph's to face the Rat' of champions

THE FAI Schools Leinster Junior Cup looks set to explode into life next week as last year's finalists face tough second and third-round clashes respectively.

Holders Ratoath College and St Benildus College played out an exciting five-goal thriller in last year's showpiece and goals look likely again as both sides chart a course for this season's final.

The champions easily saw off Blakestown Community School 5-1 before the break thanks to a Daniel Chochlinski brace and goals from Callum McGovern, Mohamed El Zayed and an own goal.

Fairview's St Joseph's CBS look certain to provide a much sterner test after they put seven goals beyond Castleknock College in their first-round encounter

On the other side of the draw, Benildus are already safely beyond the second round thanks to two convincing victories.

Dan O'Reilly, Karl Weldon and Sean Letman were on target in a 3-0 victory over Palmerstown Community School in the second round following a 4-0 demolition of Clondalkin's Coláiste Chillian before that.

Benildus look to have an exciting blend of graduates from last year's Minor Cup-winning side and players retained from their Junior Cup final appearance.

Templeogue College will test their credentials next week, however, after the 2008 finalists beat St Aidan's 8-1 -- with Paul Bracken and Jamie Hollywood in particularly good form -- last Friday.
