IRELAND and Derby County have been given some good news as Jeff Hendrick (pictured) will be back in action with in a matter of weeks and not months.
The 22-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder while on duty for the Rams against Ipswich last weekend - a game watched by Martin O'Neill - and there were fears that the talented midfielder could be out for some time.
But the club have confirmed that Hendrick does not need surgery and is in line for a rapid return.
"After undergoing a series of tests and visiting a specialist earlier this morning, it has been confirmed that Jeff Hendrick will not need to go under the knife in order to return to fitness," Derby said in a statement.
"He will instead work on a short rehabilitation with the Rams' medical team at the training centre.
"It is expected that the player will be available for selection again within the month of September."
Hendrick had started all five league games for the Rams this season.
