BRING ON the Spanish - that was the battle cry from Ireland's teenage heroes after they secured a place in the last four of the U-19 European Championships.
A 0-0 draw against host nation Romania here in Bucharest last night was enough to send Paul Doolin's side into the semi-finals and a dream meeting with Spain on Friday night.
Spain are reigning European and World champions at senior level and recently won the European U21 title, while Barcelona have set new standards for club football .
But Ireland's captain John Egan insists that his team have no reason to fear the Spaniards.
"We have nothing to lose. No one expects Ireland to beat Spain so we'll give it our all. We're in the last four but we're not happy just to be in the last four, we want to go all the way," a triumphant Egan told the Evening Herald.
"We certainly won't sit back and let them come at us, and hopefully we can do enough to win."
