Irish qualification for Euro 2012 will be down to one thing - results

On another note entirely, the Republic of fixtures for the Euro 2012 campaign have now been drawn and have thrown up the usual range of ifs, whens and maybes.

I've never been one to get excited over a fixture list. No matter what way you look at them, you have to win as many as you possibly can and you have to play each team twice. Trying to second guess events in 12 months time or longer is a pointless exercise.

It should be noted that some of the fixtures, particularly the first against Armenia, will pose some serious logistical problems but everyone in the group will have to cope with that. As I said when the group was drawn, it's not the worst Ireland has ever had to deal with and in the end, it will come down to results and nothing else.
