Martin O'Neill will go head to head with Jurgen Klinsmann in the Ireland's final match of the year.
A friendly at the Aviva Stadium against the United States was announced for November 18 by the Football Association of Ireland last night, with Ireland manager O'Neill sure to relish the clash with opposite number Klinsmann.
The US survived a tough World Cup group this summer, from which Ghana and Portugal failed to advance.
German coach Klinsmann's team then fell to Belgium after extra time in a dramatic second-round match.
The autumn clash will follow four days on from the Republic's Euro 2016 qualifying match against Scotland at Parkhead in Glasgow.
Before the November fixtures, Ireland have a friendly against Oman on September 3 followed by European Championship qualifiers against Georgia, Gibraltar and Germany.
