Invincible Newtown wrap up title

NEWTOWN claimed their second Andy McEvoy Division title after an 18-match campaign.

RATHNEW AFC...............................2

Rathnew went ahead through Chris Gregory, but Dessie Waters levelled matters with his 21st goal of the season.

Dean Odlum showed why he's the top marksman in the Premier Division with his 17th league goal before John Heffernan made it 3-1.

Colin Jameson gave Rathnew hope with a second-half penalty, but they lost 'keeper Edward Doyle to a couple of yellow cards.

Sub Colin Odlum restored Newtown's advantage before Rathnew's Paul Merrigan was red-carded.

Then last Friday Rathnew agreed to a 1-1 draw with Arklow Town from their scheduled league match.

A win would have seen the Villagers take second place in the top-flight, however Arklow were the runners-up berth.

GLENCORMAC UNITED..................1

Newtown continued their dominance over Glencormac by winning the Division 2 title.

Newtown took the lead right on half-time after Shane Devlin fouled Ross Odlum and Conor Eccleston converted the penalty.

Glencormac equalised when Emmet Burke rounded Cian McGuirl to make it 1-1.

But within two minutes, Newtown were back in front.

David Harvey's 30-yard half volley dropped just over Stephen Pepper to give Newtown the win.
