Ideye is like a new signing for Baggies

PAT Fenlon is confident that new arrivals Danny North (inset) and Mikey Drennan will deliver goals for Shamrock Rovers in the coming season.

The Hoops will have a new-look strike force in 2015 as Dean Kelly, Ciarán Kilduff and Karl Sheppard have all left the club.

North already has a track record in the league from his spells with St Patrick's Athletic and Sligo Rovers while Ireland U21 cap Drennan, signed from Aston Villa, has real potential, Fenlon believes.

"Danny gives us a real goal threat which we didn't have last year, even though we had three or four good forwards," said Fenlon, whose side are again in pre-season action against LA Galaxy on Saturday.

"But in the context of the league they didn't score enough goals and that's something we have to rectify.

"I have known Mikey since he was a kid and he's a goal-scorer and finisher. If we have the players behind him, decent fire-power that can create chances, we need people to finish them. Danny and Mikey are box players who want to score goals."

Fenlon is still keen to strengthen his squad before the new season resumes in 18 days' time and he's considering a contract offer for French defender Max Blanchard.
