STEPHEN HUNT has told Giovanni Trapattoni that he can make an impact off the bench if given a chance at Euro 2012.
Hunt has started just one of the last six competitive games and expects to start Sunday's meeting with Croatia on the bench. "Impact sub" is a term that some players hate but Hunt will take it in his stride and do what he can for Ireland if called upon.
"The manager said I would come on at some stage and hopefully he will think I can make an impact, I don't know.
"He has his own opinions. I feel happy and 100 per cent fit," says Hunt, now in his third campaign with the Irish side, having made his debut in 2007.
"The manager is his own man and what will be will be. If I don't start then I will just support the boys.
"We are all here for each other and hopefully I will get a start but if not, it is a matter of having an impact if I get on.
"You want to have an impact and want the team to do well and today was the first time I have had a feeling of being at the tournament.
"The last three or four months has been a battle to get fit. I had to concentrate on that and now I am here and over the injuries I just want the tournament to start," added the Wolves man.
