Hoban out to impress O'Neill

WATFORD'S Irish hopeful Tommie Hoban will celebrate his 21st birthday and also get another chance to impress Martin O'Neill today as the Ireland boss is heading to Vicarage Road on a scouting mission, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.

With no Premier League action this weekend due to the FA Cup programme, O'Neill has decided to take in the Watford-Blackpool Championship tie this afternoon.

As Watford's talented Irish winger Sean Murray is sidelined after he underwent surgery this week, it's a chance for defender Hoban to showcase his talents to O'Neill, while Darren O'Dea will also hope to get a run-out with Blackpool.

Hoban, who turns 21 today, made his Ireland U21 debut against Germany last year and has been capped four times at that level.
