HIGHLY-RATED Irish defender Gavin Gunning has suggested that he could be persuaded to stay on at Dundee United next season despite interest from a number of other clubs, including a potential move to Italy.
Dubliner Gunning has played a major role for the Tannadice club this season, helping them reach the Scottish Cup final following last week's semi-final win over Rangers.
Gers boss Ally McCoist – who signed Dubliner Jon Daly from Dundee United last year – is a big admirer of Gunning and the Ibrox side have been linked with a summer move, but reports in Italy suggest that Palermo are also tracking Gunning, 23, who is out of contract at the end of the season. But he says he could stay on at Tannadice, though the Cup final against St Johnstone next month could also be his final game.
"I want to win a final now and hopefully it is not going to be my last game for Dundee United," says the former U21 cap.
"Hopefully, I will be here next season. If it is to be my last then it's a great one to end on."
