Great football comebacks

Premier League, Newcastle 4 Arsenal 4, 2011

Arsenal were on the receiving end of a similar comeback last year when they led 3-0 inside 10 minutes at St James' Park and 4-0 at half-time, but were pegged back to draw. Cheik Tiote's stunning volley with three minutes remaining was a spectacular finale to the Magpies' recovery.

Champions League final, 2005

Liverpool were down and out after going into half-time 3-0 down against AC Milan but they scored three times in six minutes to turn the game on its head and they held on to win on penalties, driven on by an inspirational Steven Gerrard.

FA Cup final, Blackpool 4 Bolton 3, Wembley, 1953

Bolton had led 3-1 and, despite Stan Mortensen having scored a second goal for the Tangerines to reduce the arrears, the Trotters still led 3-2 with three minutes to go. However, Mortensen completed his hat-trick with a thumping free-kick from 20 yards to draw Blackpool level and seemingly guide them into extra-time. Another dazzling Matthews run ended in a sublime cut back for Bill Perry to grab a fairytale winner.
