ANDY O'Brien is in line for a return to the English club scene after he failed to agree on a new contract with Vancouver Whitecaps, ending a two-year stay in the MLS for the ex-Newcastle United player.

O'Brien, 35, has enjoyed his career in the MLS and could now find a club back in England.

Former Ireland man David Connolly may be facing the end of his playing career after his contract with League Two side Portsmouth was ended.

Now 37, Connolly has not played for Pompey this season and was loaned out to Oxford United last season.

Current Ireland U21 cap Liam McAlinden will see out the season with Fleetwood Town after Wolves agreed to another loan spell.
