Fingal move into top three

SPORTING FINGAL have moved into third in the Premier Division table after a 1-0 win over bottom side Bray Wanderers, despite having to field a weakened side.

With five defenders sidelined, Liam Buckley was forced to deploy two midfielders -- Shaun Williams and Kevin Dawson -- in his back four, while right-back Ger O'Brien became a centre-half.

However, Fingal's weaknesses were not exploited and Shane McFaul's first-half header was enough to claim the points.

In last night's other game, the Connacht derby between Sligo Rovers and Galway United, who were badly hit by injuries, ended all square as neither side could find the back of the net.
