Liverpool are reported to be preparing a bid to bring Chelsea flop Fernando Torres back to Anfield.

The Spanish striker has been linked with a move back England in recent weeks having failed to spark on loan at AC Milan, and Brendan Rodgers is said to be interested in working with the striker, according to the Daily Star.

Torres would cost in the region of £10m, a fifth of the £50m fee that Chelsea that paid Liverpool in January 2011.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers refused to comment on speculation that Liverpool were about to bid for the striker and his Chelsea clubmate Petr Cech.

"I won't comment on any player linked to here," said Rodgers. "My only concentration is working with the group here and if there's a possibility of strengthening in January, we'll take a look – at the right type of player."
