Around 30 chairs – in a section reserved for Dundalk fans – were damaged by a small group of supporters, a source told the Herald.
One witness described the trouble-makers at yesterday’s match as “the worst crowd” they had ever seen.
Fans were also “climbing walls, ladders jumping on seats and abusing stewards”, the witness said.
The cost of the damage is not yet known.
Extra stewards and gardai had to be pulled from other sections of the stadium in a bid to contain the situation.
A spokesman for the FAI said that they are investigating the incident during the game which Dundalk won 1-0.
Despite the damage caused, gardai confirmed there were no arrests.
Dundalk FC had not responded to the Herald at the time of going to press.
