Dyche has two-front war

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is braced for a double challenge in the coming days as the Clarets' tough start to life back in the top flight continues.

Primarily Dyche wants to strengthen his squad before Monday's transfer deadline but the spending power of rivals and his club's relatively meagre resources are making the task problematic. Also exercising his mind is the small matter of a home clash against a Manchester United side looking to get their season up and running after a dismal start.

Burnley's own frustrations on the pitch, after back-to-back Premier League losses to Chelsea and Swansea, continued on Tuesday with a shock 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup.

United have been painted as a club in crisis after failing to win either of their opening two league games under new boss Louis van Gaal. Dyche has dismissed such thoughts.

He said: "How could it be even bigger? Man Utd coming to Turf Moor. We know the challenge in front of us - never more so than when the big guns come to town."
